I initially tried the lipsticks and then moved onto the eye shadows, which I had good results with, so while shopping at Walgreen's one day I decided to buy another eye shadow from the matte collection called Tempting Teal.
Tempting Teal costs $4.99, it comes in a small black compact. I have no idea why Revlon called this shadow Tempting Teal because it doesn't look blue green like the color teal does, there's no noticeable blue tones in this eye shadow, it's more of a dark sage green in the package.
Even though 'Tempting Teal' wasn't a real teal, I like wearing green eye shadows because they usually flatter my brown eyes and skin, and since I'd never tried a sage green shade before I wanted to see how it'd look.
Revlon claims that their matte eye shadows have a "suede-like powder" that "glides over lids, providing high-impact color & a soft matte finish."
Usually when I think about matte makeup I think about makeup that looks heavy, but when I tried on the Revlon Tempting Teal, it was anything but. The shadow feels extremely light and silky on the eyes, and does blend into a suede-like finish that looks smooth and soft.
I found that the Tempting Teal shade did flatter my brown eyes and make them pop. But I wouldn't consider this shadow high-impact like Revlon does. Since the shadow creates such a soft finish I had to blend a lot of layers on for it to really be noticeable and to get an even wash of color.
Since I am African-American I'm used to most eye shadows not showing up on my skin with one or two layers, but I literally had to add about 5 or 6 layers of 'Tempting Teal' for a decent green color to show up, so I'm sure even fair-skinned women would have to pile it on too.
When the Revlon Matte Tempting Teal finally did show up it looked like a dark green shade, but it doesn't look harsh at all so it's actually quite soft and pretty.
I'm not sure how I felt about the color though. I think it did enhance my eyes and skin but it's a very subtle and sophisticated color and I'm used to wearing bolder and brighter eye shadow shades. So I did like the results of this Revlon Matte eye shadow, but I'm not sure if it's a color that I want to wear now, or when I'm older because it is a really grown up color.
In the End...
The Revlon Matte Eye Shadows are amazing, they look soft and sophisticated and "Tempting Teal" is no exception. Though I'm not sure if it's for me just yet, I would totally recommend it if you're looking for a soft, subtle and smoky green eye shadow that is far from being tacky or gaudy. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
