Revlon Matte Lipstick in "Pink About It" Review

The Pen
I recently fell in love with Revlon's Matte collection. I've tried several of the lipsticks and eye shadows and I want to try them all. Some lipstick colors like Strawberry Suede worked for me while others like Pink Pout didn't.

But I haven't given up because I think the collection is amazing so I recently tried a tube of Revlon Matte lipstick in 'Pink About It' for $7.99.

'Pink About It' was the only lipstick in the Matte Collection that I've tried that I was disappointed in. Revlon promises that it will leave a suede-like finish without drying or flaking and all of the lipsticks do just that.

While the other lipsticks in the collection had a great matte finish for some reason 'Pink About It' looked creamier, and while it wasn't exactly glossy it wasn't as flat as I liked.

Also the 'Pink About It' color was just kind of unnecessary to me. First off it looks very similar to Strawberry Suede, so much so that when I put a mark of it and Strawberry Suede on a tissue side by side I couldn't tell which color was which.

The only slight difference is that Strawberry Suede is one shade darker and has more of a coral tone to it. While 'Pink About It' is a little bit softer, sweeter, and pinker, it reminds me of the color of watermelon.

I wasn't that impressed with the color. It wasn't glamorous at all. Some of the darker colors in the Revlon Matte collection are sultry and bold while the lighter shades are soft and flirtatious and 'Pink About It' was just there ... awkwardly in between, Strawberry Suede's lame younger sister.

Even when I applied several coats of it to my lips it still looked soft and resembled a lip stain. My lips looked like I'd just eaten a few cherry popsicles. And while 'Pink About It' didn't look horrible against the lighter tones in my golden brown skin it's a color I've seen a million times before, it's so average that I really didn't see the point of Revlon producing it or me wearing it.

In The End...

I clearly didn't like Revlon Matte lipstick in 'Pink About It.' I thought it was corny and cheap looking. But that's just my taste. Some women with light or medium skin tones might like it and perhaps it wouldn't look corny on them. It could probably look quite pretty, but it just wasn't eccentric or bold enough to stand out for me.

If you are interested in buying a tube of 'Pink About It' I'd recommend trying the Revlon Strawberry Suede first, one coat of it resembles three coats of Pink and it's way more glamorous.
