I bought a shade called Blushing Berry from Walgreen's for $9.99 because the other shades looked like they would be too light for my golden brown skin and Blushing Berry seemed like it would show up and be flattering.
Blushing Berry doesn't look like a berry shade at all in the compact, it's more of a dusty warm pink color. It comes in a heavy square black compact. I thought that the blush would take up most of space in it but it's actually a rectangular strip that takes up about half the size of the compact.
The rest of the compact is occupied by a small, rectangular blush brush with super soft bristles. To the right of the brush sits a small button. When I pressed it a small mirror popped out of the right side of the compact. It was very cool.
Revlon claims that the matte blush creates a "soft matte look and a smooth, even finish," and that it "perfectly defines and contours cheekbones."
I found that the Revlon Matte Powder Blush in Blushing Berry showed up as a soft warm pink shade on my brown skin. It created a subtle and smooth effect on my cheeks with a few layers.
I was really surprised at how seamless it looked, I use powder blushes all the time and even with one or two layers and tons of blending I can usually see a line of demarcation from where the blush starts. But the Revlon Matte Blush looked completely natural like I was just flushed or glowing from within.
My only issue with the Revlon Matte Blushes is that I wished they came in darker or brighter shades for darker skin tones, because if my skin was a couple of shades darker I'm sure Blushing Berry wouldn't have showed up at all.
I liked that the Blushing Berry looked understated and natural, but sometimes I like a little more impact. And all of the blush shades in the matte collection are quite muted.
In the End...
In the past when I've thought about matte makeup I usually think of heavy dull looking finishes that take all of the life out of your skin. But the Revlon Matte Powder Blush made my skin look fabulous.
It gave me a soft velvety effect that looked glamorous and sophisticated, yet I could see my skin through it so it still looked natural. I think the Revlon Matte Blush is great, try it if you're looking for a seamless and natural glow. I give it 4.5 stars because there are only 4 subtle shades that it comes in.

Post a CommentI used this product and got a horrible breakout along with using it! Although the color choice is perfect for my skin, it did NOT agree with my face!
I own this and its definitely not the right color for me. I MAKE it work.
