The shade was called Apricot Fantasy and it's an apricot colored lipstick with a pearl finish that looks like a nude or a pastel peach. I have used peach colored lip glosses and lipsticks before, and even though Apricot Fantasy was a little lighter than the colors I was used to wearing I decided to buy a tube because I liked the color so much.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks cost $7.99. It comes in a black boring tube, but when you remove the cap the part that encases the lipstick is gold so it adds a little more glamour to the lipstick.
I tried on the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick later on that day and I noticed that it had a very creamy and moisturizing feel which I liked because some lipsticks can be so drying. Also the apricot color was a nice neutral shade it made my skin look more tan and it looks really sexy when paired with a dark eye shadows or eyeliner. After I applied it I also noticed that it created a lustrous finish that had a slight sheen to it.
But I did have a lot of things that I didn't like about this Revlon lipstick. I'm African American and like a lot of people of color my top and bottom lip are two different colors. So Apricot Fantasy looked really great on my bottom lip which is pink.
But my top lip has more brown tones and the Apricot Fantasy shade just looked chalky on it because of the pastel tones or the pearl finish in this Super Lustrous lipstick. As it wore off, however, it wound up making both of my lips look rather chalky, which is not cute.
I also hated the way this Revlon lipstick really accentuated the lines in my lips instead of creating a smooth finish the way that lipsticks should. And the frostiness in this color also brings out the yellow tones in the teeth.
Also even though the lipstick was moisturizing it was kind of oily so I couldn't really get an even coat of lipstick onto my lips. I own another shade of Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipstick in a pearl finish and it's thicker so it adheres better, so maybe I got an old tube perhaps.
In the End...
While I thought the Revlon Apricot Fantasy was a really pretty lipstick shade, I was in a fantasy to think it would look good on me. It's gorgeous and looks really glamorous in the tube, however it's just way too light for me so I wouldn't buy it again. It would make for a nice neutral on fairer skinned people though. 3 out of 5 stars.
