Here we can discuss on the rewiring of car stereo (audio) speakers for a person without any experience. You may know about the working of the speakers. In brief the speakers produce sound by electrical energy. A low voltage signal is given to a speaker the coil inside vibrate and the diaphragm attached to it vibrate with it producing the sound. The speaker has to get two wires from the car stereo and the metal wires (red and black) inside should be always apart (should not touch each other). If it touches it is called short circuit.
Normally a speaker input will be having a pair of wire connector having two metal wires usually red and black you have to connect the pair wire from one channel (Left) output of the car stereo, to the two connectors eg: (Red and Black) on the rear of the (Left) speaker box.
The other channel (Right)output of the car stereo, to the two connectors e.g.: (Red and Black) on the rear of the (Right) speaker box.
New car audio systems have four outputs (Channels) like the home theaters which are Front left, Front right, Rear left and Rear right channels. It will be denoted on the system or on the wire tags like FR, FL, RR, RL respectively. So that we can easily find out which channel it is. If you can take out the system and connect the speakers from outside and check it for the performance it will be good to avoid creating and understanding the wiring more perfectly. This will avoid problems after wiring it.
Rewiring takes care of the route in which the wires are laid. If you are not be able to open the whole route you will have to disconnect the old speaker wires from the speaker and properly tie a new wire (the knot should not be bigger than the hole or the pipe through which the wire has to pass as laid earlier) and with the help of a masking tape cover the knot. Then pull the wire from the car stereo (audio) system side. Don't pull so hard pull it gently in and out fashion. Place the speakers in the appropriate places and connect the other end to the car stereo (audio) output and play. If everything is done properly as said you will not have any troubles. You should only connect the wires of the speaker wires and not to any other connectors to avoid burning of the speakers of the inside parts of your equipment.
Note: Before taking out the system at first you should check whether the problem is because of the wiring itself. Sometimes the trouble could be due to various reasons such as your system malfunction or a faulty speaker etc.
