Reynolds Handi-Vac Vacuum Food Sealer System

I couldn't live without my Reynolds Handi-Vac. I use it for everything from cheese to meats, produce, snacks and everything in between. The gallon and quart sized bags hold everything, and with the air sucked out of it, the food stays fresher. I don't have a problem with freezer burn anymore, and the Reynolds Handi-Vac has extended the life of my meats, dairy and even produce. The bags are thick, not cheap at all, and you can even put liquid products in. Just be careful not to suck the liquid into the Reynolds Handi-Vac. And of course, the Reynolds Handi-Vac bags have a spot so that you can write the contents and the date.

If you are worried about cost, the Reynolds Handi-Vac itself is about ten dollars for a starter kit, and then the freezer bags are priced about what you would pay for freezer bags anyway. And it will pay for itself over and over again, as less and less of your food is going to waste. With the rising cost of food, every little bit helps.

I also find that the meats in the Reynolds Handi-Vac Freezer bags tend to defrost faster then regular bags or the package the meat comes in. I'm not sure if Reynold's intended for that to happen, but it makes a nice little side bonus.

The Reynolds Handi-Vac can be used for everything. I have used it to freeze my meat from the grocery store, to hold sliced cheese and leftover block cheese in the refrigerator, to freeze soups, hold lunch meat, sliced fruit and vegetables, and leftover snacks such as chips. It can also be used to plan ahead meals, and used for portion control if dieting.

Using the Reynolds Handi-Vac is a breeze. All I do is put the food in (not exceeding the fill line), close the bag, then place the bag on a counter to seal. I find its easier to get a good seal no matter the product inside if I use the edge of a counter. Then I place the Reynolds Handi-Vac on the bag and let it do its magic. Takes all of about 2 minutes to package food this way for me.

The great thing about the Reynolds Handi-Vac is the space. Unlike some of the other Vacuum Sealer Systems out there, Reynolds Handi-Vac takes up almost no space. The Handi-Vac can be tossed into a cabinet, drawer, pretty much anywhere you have room.

I wanted to ask thou,, has anyone reused these bags? Like for instance,, freeze hamburger in them and then wash and dry them and use it to store cookies in or would you just keep using it for meats?

I found out the bags are no longer in the stores. Debbie Meyers who makes the green bags, is now taking over the Reynolds Vacuum Bags and you can find them on HSN.

I could not find the bags so I decided to spend 2.79 on the Ziploc Vacuum Bags to see if they worked and they do. Just take off the small sticky square and use your Reynolds Handi vac to suck out the air then put the sticky square back. The bag stays sealed.

My husband and I love the handi-vac, too. For some reason I cannot find the bags anymore. There is not even a place for them on the shelves. Has Reynolds quit making them>

I have this and love it, too! My problem is I can't find the bags ANYWHERE in town anymore. I've emailed Reynolds so hopefully they will be able to find someplace for me to buy them! The system is definitely worth the price!
