Rhinoplasty and Philippine Media: How TV Influences Filipinos to Get a Nose Job

Rhinoplasty and Philippine Media

Throughout the decades the public opinion has changed about cosmetic surgery. It can be noted that at one point even the Catholic Church condemned the act of getting a nose job done as defying the divine will. The main justification for this was the belief that a person must live with what the lord has given them. But as the years passed the people's concept of beauty changed as did their views about the idea of getting a nose job. More and more pinoys are becoming open to the idea of getting it done. Despite this sudden spark in interest the middle class pinoy's priorities still lie with responding to the daily needs of the family so the rich are more likely to go for a rhinoplastic procedure.

Is the media somehow responsible for these changes in public opinion? Well it is a safe bet that it does play its part in creating these changes. And it is an understatement to say that the part it played was undeniably crucial in the proliferation of Rhinoplasty or any other form of cosmetic procedure in the Philippines for that matter.

To simplify everything here is one way to look at the symbiosis between the two. The beautiful faces of top celebrities (whether they're from the local scene or from abroad) inspire the fancy of the people. The different forms of media are used to exhibit this beauty to the public. And a cosmetic surgeon gives the patient a shot at having at least same nose as your favourite celebrity. To make things short, the Philippine media continuously contributes in increasing public awareness and interest in cosmetic procedures like rhinoplasty.
