JoinRudy2008.com announced in a press release this week that Albert Ribeiro will take on the role of State Political Director in Connecticut. Connecticut is viewed as an important state to the Giuliani campaign, as residents are likely to be very familiar with Giuliani as a leader due to geographical proximity to New York City. Giuliani's campaign manager, Michael DuHaime, said, "Voters in Connecticut know first-hand that Rudy Giuliani is a proven leader who has a real record of results as Mayor of New York City."

Within the state of Connecticut, Ribeiro will be responsible for building grassroots efforts towards Giuliani's election as the next President of the United States of America. These grassroots efforts will depend largely on volunteer recruitment throughout the state. Remarking on Ribeiro's role in energizing the voters of Connecticut, DuHaime said, "Al will play a vital role in delivering Mayor Giuliani's message of optimism throughout the state." It is thought that by exuding optimism rather than employing scare tactics, the Giuliani campaign will greatly benefit.

Albert Ribeiro has worked with Jamestown Associates as a Media Buyer, Director of Operations and Vice President. Jamestown Associates is a consulting firm that specializes in lending expertise in media and political arenas. In addition to his time with Jamestown Associates, Ribeiro has also worked in seven different states on political campaigns ranging from local races to Presidential campaigns. Through this service, he has gained experience in voter registration campaigns, event planning for political events and rallies and became thoroughly proficient at voter contact techniques. He will use all of that experience during his time as Political Director in Connecticut for the Giuliani campaign.

Connecticut is currently presided over by Republican governor M. Jodi Rell. Many key officials within the government of the state of Connecticut are Democrats, including Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz, Treasurer Denise Nappier and Attorney General Richard Blumenthal. Within both the State Senate and State House, Democratic leaders are in command. Although many Republican politicians are strong in the state of Connecticut, including Govenor Rell, it may be a challenge to marshal the vote for a Republican Presidential candidate in the 2008 general election. As a result, it was important for the Giuliani campaign to choose a seasoned and respected leader, as they found in Ribeiro, to assume the position of Political Director.

DuHaime, expressing his confidence in Giuliani's choice of Ribeiro, stated in Tuesday's press release that "We are confident that Mayor Giuliani can win Connecticut in both the primary and general election."
