According to the Times-Union, while awaiting for the two women to return to the Cadillac Escalade where Collier and Pettway awaited someone walked up to them and shot Collier several times; Pettway was not injured during this incident. There has not been a motive stated as of yet, according to The Sports Network.
This isn't the first time that something like this has happened especially with a celebrity. It is unfortunate that things like these to happen and they often leave the victims in critical condition or worse even worse, dead.
I had a friend who was shot not far from my house. He was walking down the street when two men jumped out from a vehicle and asked if he was from a gang. My friend told them no at first and then stupidity got the best of him when the two guys started mouthing off to him so he told them that he was in a Mexican gang.
One of the guys pulled a gun and shot my friend once but he shot him with at .22 and those who know about a .22 gun can tell you that the bullet travels and bounces off the body. My friend was in critical condition for two days and had to have two surgeries; one to remove the bullet and the other to finish repairing the damage.
This incident happened on the corner of N.W. 8th and Blackwelder in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I lived at that corner at the time and I heard the shots but was not able to help him until the other guys took off since I had my two oldest daughters with me at that time. I moved soon after this incident and my friend still has the scar to show for what had happened that night.
It is a shame to know that we have such people in this world that can walk up to people and shoot them. It doesn't matter what the motive is, it really isn't worth taking the life of someone else.
