They give it a 50-50 chance. I say shoo-in. I'm going on gut. They're going on logic.
What we're talking about here, and everybody out there is too, is whether Texas Governor Rick Perry will choose to run for the Republican nomination.
We know who the Democrats have up. The Republican runners capture much more interest. While the country looks for change, all wonder what kind of change the current Republican runners can make. If he runs, Republican Rick Perry can make the kind of change Americans really want.
Two questions remain: Will he run? Is it too late? I'd put money on Yes and No.
No, it's not too late, despite what the naysayers say. While there's no official deadline for announcing, the later a candidate declares the less time there is for campaigning, fund-raising, and catching up to the others.
In recent history, the average time for announcing averages 15.4 months before the election. That would put Perry's possible announcement by mid-July. Expectations are, in fact, that he'll announce around then when the legislative session in Texas ends. Perry has things still to accomplish there.
Yes, I predict he'll run. Time lost in the delay can be made up in terms of campaigning, fund-raising, and catching up to the others.
Perry's campaign can run on his record. It's a good one showing out-in-front lead in jobs and economic recovery for Texas under his governorship.
Raising cash for a campaign may be going on already. With all that prosperity returning to Texas, conservatives, oilmen, and friends of a family named Bush can target disposable income toward Perry. Campaign coffers may be filling as we speak.
Yeah, Perry would be last out of the gate should he announce in July. Judging by the lackluster start of the others, however, a burst on the scene of a winner could be just what we need. I say 'winner' because that what Perry does. He's never been in a race he's lost and served as Texas Governor longer than anyone else.
I don't know about you, but I'm interested in a winner. And I want whomever wins to deliver on promises too. So far in the current administration, we have nothing but losing all around going on. I'm going on gut logic that will Perry announce, run, win, rid the current oppression, and restore America to glory. That's all.
