The 2nd Annual Rick Springfield & Friends Cruise Sets Sail in November

80's rocker Rick Springfield has been up to a lot these days. An appearance on Monday's Oprah WinfreyShow revealed that Springfield is busy with several big projects, including a star studded cruise set to sail in November. And in addition to a highly anticipated four episode stint on the Showtime series Californication which started last week, Entertainment Weekly has reported that Rick Springfield has an autobiography in the works, which promises to dish all the dirt on the singer's not-too angelic life.

Springfield has been in the news after a guest appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show this week, when he surprised two BFF die hard fans with an impromptu rendition of his 1981 hit Jessie's Girl. Springfield then dropped the bombshell that the two women would be on the guest list for his exclusive "2nd Annual Rick Springfield & Friends Sun Dazed & Star Filled Nights Cruise".

The cruise is a big hit among Springfield's fans. According to the official website of the Rick Springfield & Friends Cruise, the cruise dates are November 12 to November 16, 2009.

Singer Richard Marx will be on board the Carnival cruise ship, as well as soap stars Doug Davidson (The Young and the Restless) and Brandon Barash (General Hospital). Springfield's 1980's fans will also recognize one of the original MTV VeeJay's, Mark Goodman.

Springfield told Winfrey that the cruise, which departs from Miami and sails to Cozumel, Mexico, will feature a beach concert at the Playa Mia Beach Resort. The official cruise websites details an all you can eat buffet and open bar for the festivities. Springfield said 1200 of his fans attended last year's cruise and party. Springfield will be on board the cruise ship for the entire trip and plans to spend plenty of time with his fans.

Fans of Springfield will no doubt enjoy his comeback. He joked that fans will get to see him in a red Speedo on his Califonication guest spot. Springfield turned 60 this year, which may be a shock to fans. Let's just say the man has aged very well.

Rick Springfield is best known for his hit songs Jessie's Girl , Don't talk To Strangers and Love Somebody. He's also famous for his role as Dr. Noah Drake on the ABC soap operas, General Hospital. Over the years he's had a successful acting career, including a TV series High Tide (1994-1997) and guest spots on shows like Martial Law and Suddenly Susan.

This sounds like fun. Would love to go on a cruise, even without Ricky in his *gasp* red speedo!

Oh, how I used to love Rick Springfield back in the 80s -- thanks for bringing back the memories!

My sister used to like him when he was on General Hospital, so, therefore, I used to hack on this "Purty-boy" bigtime! Then, in 2000, I saw him live at the Tennessee Valley Fair, and BOY did my attitude change; bigtime! Rick put on an incredible show, with every bit of the talent and musicianship one would expect from a world class rocker like Ozzy! And unlike his Ozz-ness, Mr. Springfield has aged extremely well. My boss loves him, too, and said last year's show here in TN was incredible. My hat's off to ya, mate! I am not ashamed to admit you have proven this smart-ass adolescent wrong!
