Ricky J Plans His American Takeover!

When you think about an artist from Canada (eh?!), the first thing these days that comes to mind is: Justin Bieber, Drake, and some old man living in an igloo ice fishing and singing Bryan Adam jams… well now there is a new name to think about: RICKY J!

Rewind to 2001 when Ricky busted onto the music scene in Montreal, Canada with Warner Bros. Records and his hit single, No Means No (go listen to it, I'm sure you have heard it before). The young artist out of Canada quickly became a household name, going Gold and reaching the top of the Billboard music chart.

Now in 2012, Ricky J is living in Los Angeles recording new music and planning his takeover of the USA.

With new tracks like, Whatta Night and Waitin 4 U, Ricky has broken into the club scene and is drawing comparisons to artists such as Pitbull and Asher Roth. However, the comparisons aren't getting to Ricky's head, as in a recent interview he noted, "[Pitbull] has talent and the ladies love him up, so I have no problem with that. I take it as a compliment."

As for what else 2012 holds, Ricky hopes to start his American takeover by filming a few new music videos, meeting his American fans on tour, creating a clothing line, getting into acting, and being as diverse as he can possibly be.

The skies the limit for this Canadian import, and we at Yahoo! can't wait to see what he does next.
