Ricola Natural Herb Cough Drops to Sooth Away Sore Throats

With the weather getting a little cooler, still in the 80's here in Florida, and everyone having their flu shots it was time to get a supply of cough, and cold over the counter products. A great deal this week at Walgreens drugstore was, a packet of Ricola The Original Natural Herb Cough Drops, regular price $2.49, reduced to $1, with an in store 50 cents coupon. I got 21 cough drops for 50 cents.

These come in a pretty yellow and white packet, and they are a 'Cough Suppressant - Throat Drop'. They are natural, and soothes sore throats. These are manufactured in Switzerland, and distributed in New Jersey.

I love these Ricola cough drops, that haven't changed in all the years I have purchased them. They look just like an old fashioned candy. The wrapper is the same color as the packaging. Once you pull both ends, the wrapper opens, and the cough drop has a piece of wax paper to protect it.

Ricola doesn't have a cough drop smell, or taste. It is a brown color, and when you suck on it, you can feel your nose clearing, and a soothing liquid going down your throat. They suggest that adults and children 6 years and older, suck one cough drop, and then a second one. If they need more then leave it 2 hours in between.

I would rather give Ricola to a child then any of the 'stronger smelling, and tasting' cough drops. The active ingredients in them is menthol, and then they have Ricola's herb mixture as inactive ingredients. They also list sugar here too, so I would be reluctant for my diabetic husband to have them.

I am not sure if it is the fact that I believe in these little cough drops, or whether they work better on my sore throat, than offer cough drops. I feel that they are natural, and have been around since the 1930's, and therefore they are my number 1 cough candy. Check out the packaging and see pictures of the herbs they use in them.

I do sometimes pick up other brands, but that is when they are on sale. Ricola at $2.49 is a high price to pay, but at 50 cents, what a bargain.
