Freshly picked broccoli can hide many little pests. Here is a great way to wash your broccoli that will remove dirt and pests better than any simple rinse and shake. A nice bath, with a few ingredients, will ensure a bug free broccoli harvest.
You Will Need:
Your freshly picked broccoli
A clean sink
Cold water
ΒΌ cup a salt
1 tablespoon of vinegar
Instructions:
1. Stopper your sink and fill will cold water.
2. Add the salt and vinegar to your sink full of clean water. Submerge the broccoli in the water for around fifteen minutes.
3. The bugs will float to the top so that you can easily remove them.
4. Drain the water and rinse your broccoli under fresh running water.
5. If you have any concerns about remain bugs you can repeat the process, but once should be enough. Once rinsed your harvest is ready to eat or store.
Nothing ruins a snack, salad or meal than unwanted surprises along with the food. So, take this extra step when cleaning up your broccoli harvest. It only takes a short time in comparison with the ick factor that you might feel for a long time after a bad experience.
