Ridding of Head Lice Using Alternative Medicine Treatments

Save Money and Rid of Lice Using Alternative Medicine Remedies

Alternative medicine treatments not only treat the illness or issue with old fashion subsidy, but also cost much less than purchasing a bunch of traditional medicines. I have found an alternative medicine or method that works incredibly well for the treatment of head lice.

Head lice can cost hundreds of dollars to cure especially with girls, because of their long hair. Yes it is easy to just cut the hair very short and hope for the best, but why not use something that not only treats the head lice but rids of the head lice, nits, and eggs all at the same time without spending a bunch of money and cutting all that hair off.

I have three daughters and all of them contracted head lice one week before school started. The time before school starts is supposed to be an exciting time for the kids and for the parents, because the summer is over and the kids are finally going back to school. So how did we get rid of those pesky little lice in all that hair?

Well my wife and I called some friends and family and this is what we did. Coming to us as a surprise we found out that lice hate coconut. To begin, every time we washed our daughters' hair we used coconut milk shampoo. The only issue is that you cannot use any type of conditioner as this counter acts everything you do to rid of those lice. So expect a lot of tangles.

There are four different things we used that completely killed off the lice and killed the eggs. Now don't forget you will still have to comb out the hair to get rid of those nits and boy can this be a pain in itself. The three different items we utilized outside of washing their hair with coconut milk shampoo was Listerine, Olive Oil, Mayonnaise, and Vinegar. In addition, you will need fine tooth combs and hair caps. All together this cost us around $25.00 versus several treatments of Lice MD that would have cost us nearly $160.00.

First, we used the Mayonnaise and in essence washed their hair with it. This was definitely disgusting and unpleasant but it worked. Once we put the mayonnaise in we left it in for one hour under a hair cap and then washed it out with the coconut milk shampoo. Once we did this treatment we combed through the hair in sections.

The next day we utilized the vinegar in the morning for an hour under the hair cap and went through the same process of washing their hair and combing through it. That evening we used a little bit of the original Listerine under the hair cap for an hour and then combed through their hair again to try and rid of the nits and eggs that still remained.

Finally, a week later the actual lice were gone but some eggs still remained along with some nits so we put Olive Oil in their hair and put a hair cap and they slept in it overnight. This ultimately rid my daughters of the lice, nits, and eggs. The best parts of all were that they only missed one day of school and have not had lice since (knock on wood). Let's not forget that the alternative medicine only cost us around $25.00 versus hundreds on traditional medicines.

Don't forget though that any toys with fur or hair need to be bagged up for at least a month to kill any potential lice remaining and all the sheets, blankets, pillows, and clothes need to be washed and dried on high heat if possible. You can also just put these items in the dryer on high heat and the heat will kill them as well. Once you have completed all these steps your children's hair should be shiny from the Mayonnaise and Olive Oil and the lice are gone. You should keep washing their hair for a few weeks in the coconut milk shampoo without using conditioner and remain vigilant of any pesky lice that try to come back. Good luck on your alternative ways of medicine and ridding of those pesky lice once and for all.
