Rihanna Dishes with "Seventeen" About Happiness, Tattoos and Best Friends

Hip Hop star, Rihanna graces the cover of "Seventeen" Magazine and also opens up about how happy she is now in an interview in their August 2010 issue, on newstands now.

Rihanna told the teen style magazine that she is happier than she has ever been and how she recovered from her domestic violence ordeal with Chris Brown. Rihanna went home and wrote her feelings out, and that became the basis for her latest album, "Rated R," which has spawned three top 10 hits and gone platinum.

Sporting her mirror image tattoo "Never a failure, always a lesson" on the cover, Rihanna talks about its meaning. She say the phrase is a mantra of strength for herself and her best friend, Melissa, whom she has known since age 14.

The hip hop diva also says that it took a great deal of strength to move forward from her relationship gone wrong with R&B singer, Chris Brown. "You're never prepared for the day that you have to get out of that relationship," she says, but adds "just know that one day you're going to wake up and be over it." Her advice is to be yourself and have fun.

There are many great new photos of Rihanna in the article. In one you can see her wrist tattoo which she revealed stands for strength and love a couple of years ago. She also revealed that a tattoo of roman numerals on her left shoulder was actually Melissa's birthday.

You can see a little glimpse of the tattoo she has behind her right ear, which is reportedly a Pisces sign. And, yes, I actually have a copy of the magazine because my daughter subscribes to it and happens to be away on vacation till the end of July. Otherwise, she would be at the mailbox every day until her issue of "Seventeen" arrives.

Other Rihanna tattoos sighting throughout the years reportedly include a couple of music notes on her ankle, a sanskrit prayer on her hip, a star in her left ear, and a trail of stars beginning on her neck and going down her back.

I'm so glad that Rihanna turned out to be such a good role model not just for young girls, but for women everywhere by leaving behind a man she once loved, but who did not deserve that love any longer.

I don't think there was ever any doubt that Rihanna would come back stronger from her abusive relationship with Chris Brown. Everyone loves a celebrity who overcomes adversity.
