Rihanna Gains Steam with "We Found Love"

Barbadian singer Rihanna is on a tear! Even with her latest single, "Cheers (Drink to That)," currently sitting at #8 on Billboard's Hot 100 Songs chart, she's already setting her sights on her future with the release of a new single and the announcement of a brand new album, her sixth in six years. The new single is already receiving rave reviews and hot sales and the new record announcement gives fans something to look forward to come November and beyond.

Robin Fenty, better known as Rihanna, has been making hit records since 2005 and she seems to pick up steam with each new venture. Having sold more than 20 million albums in just six short years, she's one of the best selling female artists of all time. At the ripe old age of just 23, the singer has amassed 16 top ten singles on her own, eight of which have topped the charts, and she's also scored big as a featured performer on several collaborations, most notably 2008's "Live Your Life," with T.I. and 2010's "Love the Way You Lie," with Eminem, both of which hit the number one spot on the charts.

The newest single, "We Found Love," is already well on its way to becoming the singer's latest smash. The song is melodic and catchy, and a little melancholy yet upbeat at the same time. It's got a great hook, and remixes of it are sure to be heard on dance floors everywhere very soon. Lead singles off of any album are important in establishing strong sales and attention and this one's just about as good as it gets.

Critics have already weighed in on the song with plenty of complementary remarks, calling it "poignant and sweetly triumphant," "shimmery," and a "club anthem in the broadest sense." Indeed, the lyrical hook to the song is almost hypnotic and is what makes the record such a potential smash. Chart Rigger's Robbie Daw says, "'We found love in a hopeless place' just might be the best pop lyric of 2011," and upon hearing it, many people would agree.

On Thursday, Rihanna tweeted that the new album would drop this fall, and it was later revealed that the as yet untitled set will be released November 21st. Stay tuned.
