Rihanna's Hottest Songs

Thank God for Barbados

StacyM
If you are a fan of the R&B or pop world, you have likely heard the name Rihanna. Born Robyn Rihanna Fenty in Barbados, this 21-year old has been taking the music scene by storm. She has had three number one hit singles, music that is popular worldwide, and an album that was nominated for nine Grammy awards. Her first album was released in 2005 and her music has taken off from there. Below I hope to give you a good guide to the best of Rihanna - her top five songs in my opinion and a good variety to begin exploring this sensation.

1. Umbrella

This song was one of Rihanna's most successful songs, released in 2007 on the album Good Girl Gone Bad, her third. This upbeat song features hip hop artist Jay-Z and earned it's place as number 3 on the 100 Best Songs of 2007 in Rolling Stone magazine, along with a 2008 Grammy award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. The song's unique collaboration of hi-hat, synthesizers and bass definitely place this song in the top five Rihanna songs. The catchy lyrics speak of the shared trials of love. 2. Disturbia

Another winner from the re-release of the album Good Girl Gone Bad this particular top five song is a dance song that gets under your skin. Receiving mixed reviews, this song became her third number one on the charts in the U.S. and also became a major hit around the world. This song is less deep, but loads of fun and that puts it into the highlights of Rihanna's music. 3. Take a Bow

You can hardly talk about Disturbia without mentioning Take a Bow. Released on the same re-release of the album Good Girl Gone Bad, this song was released prior to Disturbia and together these two songs made one of only four times that a female artist has had two songs in the top five songs on the charts. The theme of the song is a woman telling a man who is trying to apologize outside her house for cheating on her that he is entertaining as a show-man but to go away. The song belongs in the best of Rihanna category for sure and many people across the world would agree, evidenced by the fact that it is in the top 10 downloads in over eighteen countries. 4. Don't Stop the Music

This is probably the song most oriented at the clubbing crowd, but it is a great dance song This is yet another release from Good Girl Gone Bad. It's so much fun to dance to that the it received the Grammy for Best Dance Recording. If you are enjoying my list, I'd strongly suggest that you pump yourself up by listening to this song and watching the funky, upbeat video at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsRWpK4pf90 and then heading out to buy the album. 5. Shut up and Drive

And finally, I would recommend this last song. Ok, I may be slightly focusing on Good Girl Gone Bad, but even though Rihanna has had some hot songs before and after this album, this album will make you fall in love with Rihanna's music. This may be the sexiest of her songs. It has a somewhat different beat, definitely belonging in the pop genre, but it is a fun little number and despite its mixed reviews, it earned the Most Popular R&B Song in the People's Choice Music Awards. The video is steaming, so much so some say it is the way fantasies are created. Check it out at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WAapKx2TvM. For your everyday enjoyment of this sexy song, download it at: http://www.amazon.com/

R&B is becoming more and more popular, and it is for a reason. One of those reasons is this star from Barbados. Listening to Rihanna will always put a better spin on the day.

Her recent stuff is pretty catchy. Would you write anything regarding songs from her first two albums?
