I found the RIM BlackBerry Bold on ATT, for $299.99 with a two year contract. I have already been with ATT for several years, so the idea of a contract doesn't deter me.
The RIM BlackBerry Bold has everything you would expect from a smart phone. It makes clear crisp calls on the 3G network. I have not had a dropped call or bad reception (Unless it was on the other party's end)
The 3G capabilities of the RIM BlackBerry Bold means I can get my emails, and data that I need, to stay in touch with my office fast and secure.
I have found the GPS that is built in to the RIM BlackBerry Bold to be handy. I can always see exactly where I am with it, and I get voice turn by turn directions without the need to purchase a separate unit for the car. It is connected to satellite, so the information is accurate and up to the minute.
Often, I need to document things as they happen in my line of work. (I investigate insurance claims)Prior to getting the RIM BlackBerry Bold I needed to carry a digital camera to take pictures and bring them in to the office. The built in 2 megapixel camera does what I need for the most part. If I need higher resolution pictures, I can take them with the digital camera, and connect to the RIM BlackBerry Bold and email the pictures in via Bluetooth, or USB.
The RIM BlackBerry Bold also has a large capacity for music. I can play my MP3s on it and it will even allow me to make playlists, and it identifies song, and artist, just like my other MP3 player.
The RIM BlackBerry Bold is great for texting, the keyboard is QWERTY style, which makes it easier to send messages compared to my old phone. I do send several texts a day when I am in the field.
One thing that I don't like is that the RIM BlackBerry Bold does not have a touch screen. Having played with an iPhone I liked that feature. However that is just one minor gripe.
Overall the RIM BlackBerry Bold is a great phone, and if you want to save a little money I would recommend this over the iPhone.
