Rimmel London Stay Matte Make-Up for Normal to Oily Skin VS. Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation

Cosmetics have been important to men and women throughout history. They are even mentioned in the Old Testament and other ancient writings from many different cultures. Egyptians have a well-known history of wearing makeup. Archeologists found cosmetics that were still fragrant and well-preserved in King Tut's tomb when they opened it in 1922. As with the Egyptians, I don't want to be caught dead without my makeup either.

I've always been envious of anyone who can get up in the morning, makeup free, and look rosy-cheeked and fresh. Honestly, I'm usually blotchy and blemished in one place or another. My pale face makes the shadows under my eyes even darker leaving me looking like I haven't slept in nearly a week.

I'm completely astonished at what miracles makeup can do for me. I know I'm not alone in this, because I've seen the front page tabloids exposing celebrity beauties without makeup. Knowing they can be less than perfect in the morning doesn't make me feel better about my appearance in the morning. This is where I tell you it's what's on the inside that counts. Since I don't present myself to the world inside out, I went shopping for new foundation.

After a foundation that I'd worn for what seemed like forever was discontinued (grrrr I hate when companies do this to the stuff I love), I had to start shopping for a new one. When it comes to makeup I tend to be a cheap-skate. I've always been that way. If I can get a great foundation for $3-$6 instead of $12 and up and it works well, then that's the one for me.

I've boughten various Rimmel London makeup products and been completely satisfied with the quality and the price. That was until I tried the Rimmel London Stay Matte Make Up for Normal to Oily Skin. This is the worst foundation I have ever used. The product says I can expect "up to 6 hours of shine free complexion." Does this mean it could be as little as five minutes? I'm afraid even this is an exaggeration.

It goes on greasy and gets more slick as the minutes go by. It goes on blotchy and is nearly impossible to blend. My only blendability salvation is adding my concealer, which is NOT by Rimmel. I leave half of my face on the phone receiver when I talk on the phone as well as anyplace else my face comes into contact with even after attempting to set it with loose powder.

Rimmel claims you can achieve medium to high adjustable coverage with this foundation. Due to difficult blending and its oily consistency, even getting light coverage is a problematic job. I need to mention that this product stinks in the literal way too. It smells like synthetic oil. Within two days, my skin was breaking out. It was cheap, only about $3.67. Needless to say, I will not be buying this particular foundation again.

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation was light and fluffy. Instead of the thick, mask-like feel of Rimmel, it was weightless. I couldn't feel it on my finger tips and I couldn't feel it on my face.

The matte finish lasted most of the day. I got a blended, natural look with an even tone. The cost of Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse was in the ballpark of $6.50. It has a light, pleasant scent and was gentle enough on my sensitive skin that I didn't suffer any break-outs from it.

Since foundation is a must-have for me, I would definitely purchase Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse again. There's really no comparison between the two. Rimmel was horrible and Maybelline came out on top.

I would just like to thank all those who have made it possible for this product to be made. It really boosts my confidents and makes me feel like a better women. Thank you, god bless. xo

I have tried Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse foundation but unfortunately havent had the same look with it. Although i was very pleased with it at first, after a couple of days i started breaking out with it, and my skin looked very dry and flaky with spots not a good luck!

I really like Avon's Beyond Color Mousse Foundation. I did a review on it, but it's awesome. Thanks for the review on these products. I have used a lot of Rimmel's stuff too, but I haven't been happy with their foundations either. I do like their eyeliner pencil that is encased in plastic and twists up. Good stuff. Thanks for the review.
