Rimmel Purple Rain Lasting Finish Pro Finger Nail Polish- Product Review

Lisa White ISSA & AFPA CPT
Although I love shimmery colors such as pinks and pearly peaches I prefer darker, bolder colors on my finger and toe nails.Nothing shouts out personality like dark burgundy or plums with shimmery flecks. With this in mind every time I shop for nail polish I start with the pale colors and work my way down the palette until I reach the reds, browns, blues, purples and blacks. Each tone has a different look and depending on my mood there may be a color that stands out and I feel the need to purchase it. This is how I found Rimmel's Purple Rain nail polish. Though I've had colors similar to the deep purple with underlying burgundy nail polish I wanted to see what this color would look like on my toes. I also wanted to know whether or not it was going to stand up to the label that states it will last for "up to 10 days."

Color

The color of Rimmel Purple Rain is an extremely dark shade of plum but not grape. Though it's deep it needs two or three coats for the color to be consistent. This did not alarm me as I've noticed other dark nail polishes are the same way.

Uses

The bottle is square with thick clear glass encasing the nail polish and offers a snazzy look. The wand has a brush that's flat with a rounded tip which is unlike other nail polish brushes. I applied the dark currant to my toe nails and found the product to be smooth. I applied a total of three coats with a thirty minute time lapse between each coat.

Although I wore this shade mainly on my toenails I also applied it to fake nail enhancements.Unlike my toenails, the nail polish only needed two coats to be even on the fake nails. With my every day activities such as doing dishes and weight training the Purple Rain lasted longer than the fake nails did.

How long did it last?

The bottle states that Rimmel Lasting Pro Finish nail polish lasts "up to 10 days" and of course I was skeptical. Between being outside barefoot and wearing socks and sneakers to the gym I knew this nail polish was not going to last for ten days. Fortunately; I was wrong. Not only did Rimmel's Lasting Finish Pro nail polish last up to ten days but it lasted for nearly two solid weeks and did not chip.

Price

The cost of this nail polish is under $5 at local retail stores such as Target and Wal-Mart.
