Ringo Starr Has Joined the Hard Rock International to Support Haitian Relief Efforts, July 15, 2010

In honor of Ringo's All-Star Band concert at the Hard Rock live on July 15, 2010, Hard Rock International and the Seminole Tribe of Florida will make a donation of $197,500 to Yele Haiti, a grassroots beneficiary of Hard Rock charity partner WhyHunger. Founded in 1975 by the late musician and activist Harry Chapin and current Executive Director Bill Ayres, WhyHunger works to put an end to the hunger suffered by 49 million Americans and more than 1 billion people worldwide WhyHunger is an organization dedicated to fighting the root causes of hunger and poverty by supporting community organizations that create self-reliance, economic justice and equal access to nutritious and affordable food.

After Ringo's show he will donate the drum kit he's been playing on his 11th All-Starr Band Tour. This drum set will become a permanent fixture of the Hard Rock's famous memorabilia collection.The Hard Rock Café in Hollywood Fl is also featuring an exhibition of Ringo's original artwork. According to Starr himself in 2005, "I started in the late nineties with my computer art. While I was touring, it gave me something to do in all those crazy hotels you have to stay in on the road." The artwork can be viewed throughout the day of the show and is available for purchase with 10% of the sales and 100% of Ringo's proceeds benefiting the Lotus Foundation.
