Ringtones, Text, and the Who's, Who's Next

The cell phone tone is a favorite song
uploaded, downloaded, received
an unknown caller attempting to reach, deceived

Along the busy street
half the people walking by
chatting on their phones
talking to their friend, their classmates
their lovers at home

University students texting with their thumbs
in class, outclassed, hit send and you're done

In the grocery store, bluetooth shoppers
embrace their own personal technology
complex methods in simpler times
a new religion for a digital theology

Later, on the pc
words are written and sent
hopes for payment, nearly absent
beside the posted piece, an ad for ringtones.
