Rio Blanco: The Best Mexican Food in Auburn, WA

Shawna Straub
From the moment you walk in their door you feel like family at Rio Blanco. This locally owned Mexican restaurant is one of Auburn's best kept secrets. From the reasonable prices, fresh made food that hits your table in what seems like minutes, and delicious dishes you won't be disappointed. For the perfect experience make sure you order their freshly made pico de gallo with your chips and salsa. They seldom ever charge you for it and it is so fresh and delicious it makes an ordinary experience extraordinary. My personal favorites are Enchilada Suizas, Shrimp Enchiladas, and of course their Chicken Chimichanga.

Rio Blanco is located at 3830 A St SE Suite 201, Auburn, WA 98002 and their phone number is (253) 939-9311. They are in south Auburn not far from the Lakeland Hills development. The portions are perfect for a hungry bear or nice to split for a couple wanting to be satisfied but not stuffed. Their fried ice cream is a tasty dessert and a perfect alternative for a birthday celebration (they'll put a candle in it for you). They are a large enough restaurant to accommodate larger parties but still are cozy enough for just a couple's night out as well. You won't get lost in the crowd at Rio Blanco, they usually have at least two people waiting on you at all times.

Some of the comments I found online also share my opinion. Insiderpages.com shows 5 stars for the reviews on Rio Blanco and comments such as: "One of the best Mexican Restaurants in Auburn. The food has always been really good, with the large portions; you don't want to fill up on chips before your meal. A very friendly staff." Another patron writes "We eat here every couple months and the food is always great. It's amazing how fast your food comes out. The servings are huge and I always need a take home box. The prices are good and there is usually a coupon in the mail for buy one get next meal 1/2 off."

If you haven't ventured to south Auburn to try Rio Blanco this winter is the perfect time to warm your taste buds and encounter the best Mexican food Auburn has to offer. If you speak Spanish you'll enjoy practicing your talents with the friendliest staff around. They love when I speak Spanish to them and bring me extra goodies like frijoles con queso (refried beans and cheese) for making an effort to respect their culture. I'm getting hungry for Mexican food right now!
