Rio's Carnival World Buffet is the Biggest Way to Get Your Fill in Las Vegas

I read many mixed reviews of Rio's Carnival World Buffet, but I decided to give it a try even if there were quite a few negative reviews on the web. I knew it couldn't be THAT bad. After having dinner there in early November 2009, I can say I was more than satisfied with this buffet!

The Location
The Carnival World Buffet is located in the Rio, which is off the strip. To get to the Rio, you can catch a free shuttle between the hours of 10 AM and 1 AM. The shuttle is located at the Paris entrance OR by Harrah's and comes every half hour or so. It's about a 10 minute drive, just over the freeway. The buffet is right by the entrance where the shuttle drops you off.

The Size
I had been told by some friends that this was one of the largest buffets in Las Vegas. Since I have not been to every buffet in Vegas, I will have to take their word for it! I cannot imagine a much larger buffet. When entering, you see the dessert right in front of you. It teases you and draws you in. The rest of the buffet starts at one end and seems to go on forever as you browse all of the different cuisines. It would be difficult not to find enough to fill your plate, no matter how picky you are.

The Food
I really enjoyed almost everything I tried - and I tried a lot of different things! A lot of times I have issues with fish at buffets, but at the Rio Carnival World Buffet I loved both the salmon and the fried fish. To be fair, I was really hungry by the time we got to dinner, but even so I still thought much of the food was very tasty. At a price of $46 per couple, this actually wasn't the most expensive buffet we've been to, but the food was still just as good as other buffets we have been to. For an additional price, you can also order specialty drinks and special desserts.

Overall
I recommend the Rio's Carnival World Buffet but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. We were at the Rio for another event so we made it a point to eat there. However, if I had no reason to visit the Rio I probably wouldn't go all the way there just for a buffet. There's always something better, but if you just want good food and happen to be at the Rio, you should give it a try.
