Rip-off Report(TM): What's It About?

The Internet Bad-Business Bureau

Glenda Glayzer

Victim of a consumer rip off? Want justice? There is a worldwide consumer reporting website and publication with content contributed by consumers, for consumers. At Rip-off Report™ individuals can file & document complaints about companies or individuals who rip off consumers.

Unlike the Better Business Bureau, this web site does not hide the reports and complaints we make, and the complaints remain public so that there is a working history on the company or individual in question. Additionally, these reports are not limited to businesses. Consumers can make reports about any government agency, individual, or product they feel could do a better job or which gave them a less-than-satisfactory product.

I discovered this bad business bureau several years ago and have posted my own complaints six times since 2004. Recently, I started using the site to check up on prospective employers as well. Although job boards on the internet do their best, they can't possibly screen and certify that all the employers who post there are legitimate. The scam employers change their identities as easily as snakes shed their skins, so it's good to have that type of resource available.

I recently had occasion to vent against a company with whom I had a four-year internet relationship that was deteriorating due to their weak customer support. After many emails to the company, the last of which was a letter to the president, I had one of those "last straw" moments. When I received a form letter email in return, and no offer of monetary refund, it was time for the Rip-off Report™.

Unlike my previous reports, this time a day or two after I had made my report live, I received an email telling me there was a rebuttal to my post. Wow!

I returned to Rip-Off Report™, where I read a short entry telling me how to contact "the company" for my refund. We did some communicating and within a few days, my refund was credited to my bank account. I suppose publication and perseverance pays.

This satisfactory outcome would not have been possible without the site EdMagedson started because he was tired...He was tired of witnessing the assault on individual consumers by powerful people and groups engaging in unethical practices. These groups could continue their bad behaviors without worry, knowing that the cost of combating them through the legal system protected them from those they were…..well, ripping off.

EdMagedson works directly with agencies like the FBI, the Justice Department, and U.S. Postal Inspectors, providing detailed investigative information and trend data. He has an appealing eccentric personality and has done hundreds of on camera interviews for shows like 48 House, Dateline, and Inside Edition. ABC's Early Show dubbed him "ErinBrokovich without the body."

He says, "I strongly believe in free speech. I support it, promote and live and die by it. My site runs under this and the ability for citizens to express concern, share thoughts and exchange dialogue. The backlash of taking on the big boys, who live off scamming, is they hate to be exposed. And our loyal readers track them down, despite name changes, and a facelift, our site helps track trends of scammers and always finding them again, whether it is a new city, state or country!"

Not lawyers or a collection agency, Rip-Off Report™ is a Nationwide Consumer Reporting News Agency…by consumers and for consumers. The site encompasses every imaginable category. There is a site-specific search engine. Just enter the company name or URL and hit enter. After a thorough search of the database, the results are displayed. If you got a hit, you can read the history of rip-off reports against that particular firm or individual.

Filing your own complaint is simple and costs nothing. First, you have to register, then fill out the carefully constructed form, which puts your report in the database. Before it can go live, the editors make certain it is socially acceptable, and within a few hours, it will be published and available to search engines. What you report will definitely help other people in making good decisions while helping you feel less like a victim.

So, save yourself a lot of time and self-pity. Before you leap into an important purchase, web-hosting plan, or job interview, look the company up at http://www.ripoffreport.com, The Internet Bad-Business Bureau. As Ed would say, "Don't let them get away with itTM."

    To V. Smith,
I have no knowledge of the inter-workings of ripoffreport.com. They are a privately run site. Maybe they are just behind in answering emails. I'm sure you can find contact info on the site itself.

My husband and I purchased a product from www.yeoldetattoosupply.com . The have a website and an ebay store. We paid for the product immediately and after 3 weeks contacted them. They never sent the product and we had to make a claim through paypal to get our money refunded. They wouldn't communicate about the problem at all. We ended up buying from another company. Check out their ebay comments. They did the same thing to other people. Beware of this internet business.
