Modern medicine is taking a turn which was not expected some few years back. Synthetic drugs on treatment of the predominant and probably incurable ailments are being replaced by natural remedies from plants, and less from the animals. A dominating field too is the consumption of these natural remedies in terms of nutritional requirements, thus the field of nutrition taking a medicinal turn which is geared to helping the under privileged population of the world.

One of the natural remedies to the common ailments such as bowel toxicity and constipation has been Aloe Vera. From a long time ago, people from different parts of the world have subscribed Aloe Vera as a drug to people who have peristalsis problems, those with abdominal pains due to excess acidity, and constipation. Though Aloe Vera has been used all these years, its implication on health has not been well emphasized.

Aloe Vera has three major components, the leaves (outer covering) the sap found within the cells of the gel which lies in between the upper part leaf and the underneath part of the leaf. The leaf itself has not been shown to contain in desirable properties and I will leave it at that.

The sap is the bitter portion of Aloe Vera leaf. This sap mainly contains the anthroquinones which have antimicrobial properties. Consumption of the sap will reduce the microbial load of the alimentary canal and have a laxative effect in the Gastro Intestinal Tract (GIT). This therefore increases the rate of alimentary peristalsis making the static bowel to have a remarkable movement. The sap therefore should be consumed only when one is undergoing constipation to avoid occurrence of diarrhea.

The gel is the nutritional back bone of the Aloe Vera. It contains a lot of vitamins including the rear vitamin B12, vitamin A and Vitamin C. Enzymes are also available which have been shown to be of use to the human metabolic requirements. Further, the Aloe Vera has seven out of eight essential amino acids. The gel therefore, due to its other properties of being anticancer, preventing and reducing diabetes, is a good choice for those who want to have a herbal medicine as a functional food.

Aloe Vera should be consumed at least ones per day. This consumption should ensure that only the gel part of it is available. To better prepare Aloe Vera for daily consumption, about 2 ounces of the gel should be mixed in breakfast cereals and other meals such as juices, and proteins especially soy proteins.

For pure vegetarians, may be consumption of the Aloe Vera gel can be a great reason not to have any vitamin B12 supplement. The greatest rip of vitamin B12 from Aloe Vera can be gotten by consuming a well prepared gel which has not undergone a lot of preservation measures, and having it as raw as possible can be good enough.

There are many other benefits that are in the Aloe Vera plant which require regular consumption. To achieve the best from Aloe Vera, look out for the Aloe Vera products in the market, including those meant for skin application in order to improve on your skin condition. Have a lively health as you consider incorporating your diet with Aloe Vera.
