Rise Dear Sun

Laura Casias
A warm glow touches my cheek
and I smile despite myself.
The happy surprise,
of a bounce in my step,
quickens the day.
I will close his chapter in my book and the sun will rise again.
Though our seeds have been sown,
and grow without him,
good men are only raised by strong women.
Rise dear sun,
rise my sons,
bring the light of many days to come
within reach.
Falls' brisk wind combs my hair and
the corners of my mouth dance up to the sky.
I can feel the change inside me.
Bend and twist,
stand tall.
Try not to feel the deep sorrow
heavy in my heart.
Embrace the sunlight on my face,
and smile.
I will close his chapter in my book and the sun will rise again.
I can raise two strong men.
Rise dear sun,
rise my sons,
rejoice in the light of the beginning of a new life.
