In Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends you can expect some of the same great game play as in the original game. This includes conquering the world by: amassing armies, building cities and bases, exploring, researching, gathering resources, etc. But a new spin has been put on things. Instead of a realistic Earth-like world, you are now set in a fantasy world!
This is the world of Aio. The inhabitants of Aio are in a constant battle between technology and magic. In the campaign mode, you will guide a young inventor to unravel the world of Aio's past and unite its people against an enormous threat. Battle your way through towering cities, dangerous ice plains, and harsh deserts.
When playing, you have a choice of 3 different races, each with very different technologies. The Venetian Vinci uses strange technology from the drawings of Leonardo da Vinci. The Alin are a strange race of Arabian wizards. Lastly, the Cuotl, who are Mayan-like aliens with extra terrestrial technology.
Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends is visually impressive and quite gorgeous to look at. The game play itself is highly addictive as it is more streamlined than the previous game with less micromanagement. You can literally jump right into the "Conquer the World campaign", play in short skirmishes, or play with friends in a multiplayer mode.
The only flaw to this game is that the story can be a tad confusing if you don't pay attention. But hey, at least it has a story...unlike some other games. Also, the background sound effects are not the greatest.
Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends is available for your PC. It has an ESRB rating of T for teen. This is because it features blood, gore, and violence. Again, this game is not an expansion to Rise of Legends, but a brand new game. However, I am sure there will be an expansion for this game in the near future...
