Rising Gasoline Cost Where is the Answer?

WRITER
It seems like everyday we are waking up to higher gas prices. Many nights I have told myself that relief will be on its way for the Americans. The truth is there is no relief insight. Only truth is that every day gas prices are going up averaging over $4.00 a gallon.

Where is the government when Americans need them the most? What necessary steps is the president taking to help the soaring prices of fuel? There is so much talk about the reasons for high fuel cost but where are the answers. Bush offered a stimulus package for the nations, however, what is additional $600-$1200 help family fight the high fuel cost absolutely nothing,

I have heard that many Americans that live near the border of Mexico are driving down to fill their tanks up with gasoline. How is it that the Mexican Government can help with inflation but the largest nation in the world struggle everyday on the fight toward rising fuel? Yet the Government is able to pass a $162 billion dollar bill towards the war in Iraq.

I know that the government does not have their priorities right at the moment. We are to concern about the war in Iraq that we turn our check at home. Millions of families have lost their homes and jobs this year. Monthly report shows us that people are not the only one to suffer from this increase but businesses as well. The airlines, transportation, motor companies are the few that took the biggest hit. These are all result of cutting job by the thousands every month as fuel rises every day. Hundreds of businesses are shutting down plants and productions as the economy takes a hit on soaring gasoline prices. Which mean thousands of Americans are becoming afraid as they go into work each and everyday to loose their jobs.

Gasoline stations are getting a huge hit as well. Many station owners report that they only earning pennies to the gallon as prices are going up. Most make a profit on snacks or services offered at the station. Thousands of owners have become victims of theft in one way with their gasoline as it become to be in high demand. Where is the answer to the problem that we are facing? As we see not promises or solution we have to plan ahead and save on gasoline by being proactive. Moving closer to work and consolidating errand that needs to be made.

Build two seat cars that get 85 mpg and go 45 mph.. It seems wierd, but cars milage goes hand in hand with light weight. The smaller the engine the less speed one gets. But would you rather save money on gas with a higher gas milage car verses a big car that sits in your driveway looking pretty because you can't afford to fill it up? This is the big question. DOT needs to cut back on restrictions and lower speed limit signs.

Forced revolution: start blowing up gas stations and people might stop going to them

I fear the economy will only get worse. Most days my car sits under the carport . . . I save up all my errands to complete in one outing.

Great article. It is very sad what is happening to America. No one seems to care any more.

Al I know is something has to give. I moved away from where I had resided for close to 20 years one year ago. With gas prices I can't afford to go visit family or friends and it has made it that much worse of an adjustment for my boys as they are losing contact with their friends and family. It plain just sucks!

As usual, the politicians are getting fat off of the misery of others.

I do agree. However many parts of America like the places I live has no public transportation. Sadly I am forced to drive everywhere.

I know petrol is a concern for Americans, but I have to agree with Carlos' statement. In Europe, petrol is over DOUBLE what it costs over here. But we still managed to get by. Using the bus was one way of overcoming high fuel costs at the pump.
