This Pasta Sauce was Very Interesting and I Am Glad that I Tried It

The other day I had to run into the health food store and didn't have a long time to look around. I wanted to be sure to get a thing of organic spaghetti sauce but I didn't want to spend a fortunate either. The first jar that caught my eye happen to be a discontinued item so it was on clearance. Seeing how it was going to be my cheapest option I decided to get it. This spaghetti sauce was Rising Moon Organics Port and Asiago Organic Pasta Sauce. The pasta sauce was only one dollar and fifty cents for a jar that contained two cups of sauce so I got all of the jars that were on the shelf, which was only two.

I had no idea what the name of the pasta sauce meant and since I was in a hurry when I got it I didn't look at the ingredients. Once I was home I was able to better study the ingredients of the Rising Moon Organics Port and Asiago Organic Pasta Sauce. The ingredients were purified water, organic tomato paste, organic diced tomatoes, which were organic tomatoes, organic tomato juice and calcium chloride, organic onions, organic asiago cheese, which was made of organic milk, cheese cultures, enzymes and salt, organic port wine, organic garlic, sea salt, organic mustard seed, organic basil, organic onion flakes, organic parsley, organic italian herb blend, organic black pepper and citric acid. Apparently the asiago referred to the cheese in the sauce and the port referred to the wine in the sauce. This was the first time that I had got a pasta sauce that contained wine and as far as I knew asiago cheese. From what I understand it is reminiscent of parmesan cheese. This sounded interesting for sure.

The look of the Rising Moon Organics Port and Asiago Organic Pasta Sauce was very appealing. You could see that it had lots of herbs in it. I thought that it was definitely something different than what I was use to. I am not sure if the difference came from the asiago cheese or the port wine but it was something that I found to be a nice and interesting change. Previously I had been getting such organic sauce as Muir Glen's organic pasta sauce varieties Chunky Tomato & Herb, Fire Roasted Tomato, Four Cheese, Garlic Roasted Garlic, Italian Herb and Tomato Basil as well as Naturally Preferred's organic pasta sauces varieties Roasted Garlic, Italian Herb and Tomato Basil. This was very different then all of them. In the above sauces I grew fond of their nutrition facts and hoped that the Rising Moon Organics Port and Asiago Organic Pasta Sauce would have pleasing nutrition facts as well.

The nutrition facts for this pasta sauce were very good indeed. In a fourth of the jar, one half of a cup, there is forty five calories with ten calories from fat. The sauce only had two hundred milligrams of sodium, two grams of fiber, four grams of sugars, five grams of protein and eight grams of carbohydrates. In addition the Rising Moon Organics Port and Asiago Organic Pasta Sauce listed in the minerals and vitamins section of the nutrition fact six percent for calcium, eight percent for iron, ten percent for vitamin A and twenty percent for vitamin C. I thought that the vitamin C content was just excellent. I would recommend for anyone to try this sauce out. I don't know how often I will be getting it, as the grocery store where I got it before no longer carries it but if I see it I will be inclined to get it again. I will also be inclined to try other Rising Moon Organics pasta sauces.
