Rising Prices Will Force People to Look for Low Cost Prescriptions

Erin Goff
With the rising costs of healthcare and the prices of medications going up, I believe in the next year people will become interested in ways of cutting costs where they can. After working for a mail order pharmacy, most of the people I have spoken with wished that the costs would stop rising so that they could afford their medications. I have had patients tell me that they were interested in going to other countries such as Canada to cut the cost of their prescriptions.

Doing a search on the internet for prescription drugs brings up a lot of different mail order companies that would be more than happy to send you medications at what they would consider reduced rates. One of the biggest problems with this is that you don't know what you are getting, or if these places are in fact real pharmacies. Lawmakers in both political parties see the need for reduced cost of medications. Drug companies have been hard pressed to help find solutions and assist Americans in getting the medication they need without the higher costs.

One of the options that consumers have is places such as the Partnership for Prescription Assistance Program they can either call tool free 1-888-477-2669 or visit their website http://www.pparx.org. The partnership does put over 1,200 medications including generics under one access point. Lawmakers are not entirely impressed with this option however they do feel that it could be a step in the right direction. Funding for this program is being provided by the manufacturers.

Another option is to do a search for specific drug companies, Pfizer for instance makers of medications such as Caduet, Celebrex, and Detrol to name a few, has programs that will help people on their brands of medications pay for prescriptions. They have many different programs to help meet many consumers' needs. Going to http://pfizerhelpfulanswers.comwill walk consumers through steps needed to apply for one of those programs.

More and more consumers are being hit hard with the rising costs of many things and healthcare and medications being one of the more serious costs. With millions of Americans having to sometimes choose between eating and getting live saving medication, many are turning to the internet for helpful answers. Many of these people are under insured, or not insured at all. With costs of everything from gas to groceries rising and incomes not rising to match, more and more people are going to start to search for ways to help defray the rising costs of prescription drugs. As word of these types of programs being out there becomes more widespread, more consumers will be searching for these types of programs.
