Riverwood Mansion - Premier Nashville Wedding Location

The Riverwood Mansion wedding site is tucked away in a residential area of historic east Nashville. Tucked away may be an understatement. I grew up in that part of Nashville but never knew it existed until attending a wedding at this location many years later. This makes for great privacy!

Riverwood Mansion is located on Welcome Lane. How Southern is that?

The mansion was built in the 1790's, and there were additions and renovations over the years. But in over 100 years now, no major changes have been made on the inside or outside of the house.

That's not to say that the current owners aren't making the place more attractive and useful for hosting weddings. It seems that every time I go out to Riverwood Mansion to perform a wedding that they have added something new. On my most recent trip, I noticed that there was a lot of new gardening. The courtyards are filled with beautiful plants & flowers. I watched as guests arrived and just walked around admiring it all.

And there is now a brand new elegant Pavilion on the back side of the house for wedding receptions. This is used for receptions and in case of rain, the backup location for the wedding ceremony. It's so nice that it would actually make a good first choice.

The front of the mansion is a favorite site for taking wedding photos. It's a Greek Revival portico with six Corinthian columns. When you step inside, you'll feast your eyes on a gorgeous chandelier, several works of art and intricate interior design features that you would expect in a home of its age.

As you walk around this home of over 9,000 square feet, you can imagine all the famous people who've walked in the same rooms you are in. That includes presidents Jackson, Polk, Pierce, Johnson, Cleveland, Roosevelt, and Taft. Other notables who've visited Riverwood Mansion include Vice President Adlai Stevenson and Robert Penn Warren, the first US Poet Laureate.

In more recent years, Riverwood Mansion has had special videos shot on location, including part of Jo Dee Messina's video Stand With Me.

Riverwood Mansion is one of Nashville's premier wedding locations as indicated by how busy they are. They even added a special La Petite package for couples who wanted a morning wedding.

The mansion is owed and run by a husband and wife, so you know they have a vested interest in making your wedding just what you want it to be. They have a large staff that takes care of everything for the couple. All you have to do is show and enjoy the day.
