Remember, if you're not part of the solution you're only part of the problem. You don't want to do anything to provoke the other driver or make them think that you want to get into a battle of rage. They may be hard to ignore, but they only want you to be mad with them so don't let that happen. If you get enraged too, it's only going to fuel the rage even more and cause more enraged drivers.
Do your best to stay calm and collected, and they will most likely calm down. If they aren't doing something illegal, just pay them no mind and they will realize they can't get to you. Chances are that they want you to be angry since they are angry themselves. If they are doing something illegal, call the police and let them deal with the person.
When it comes to driving, the most important thing is to keep yourself and any passengers safe. Chances are you may never see the other driver again but injuries can last forever. Remember, what comes around goes around and karma is going to catch up with enraged drivers at one point or another. Chances are that they're going to end up in a bad accident at some point but you're going to stay in one piece.
The best way to combat road rage is to set an example of good driving. It might even show aggressive drivers how silly and ridiculous they drive. Share the road, and remember to obey the traffic laws as well. If you want other drivers to show you manners, you have to show them manners too. As the saying goes, practice what you preach. If you want more drivers to use driving etiquette, you have to use it yourself. Be considerate and courteous to other drivers, and they will return the favor.
