"Road Rage" Leads to Slashing Incident

Yet Another Mark on Upper Darby's Poor Reputation

Aisha Syed, 37, of Philadelphia decided to take matters into her own hands and punished a fellow driver by slashing her from ear to lip. There were many comments to this news story that originally appeared in the Daily Times . I'm not sure if the act itself or the comments were more disturbing.

Many of the comments were geared toward what did the victim do? That no one just gets out of their car and slashes someone without a reason. A reason? There is never a reason for slashing someone with a razor. This so called "Road Rage" has become an excuse for people to hurt and even murder people then simply say "I don't remember, I was in some kind of rage and just went nuts". Please, it is called self control.

The "slasher" had a four year old child not only in the car to witness the whole thing, but in the front seat and without a proper car seat. Miss Syed obviously has no regard for life and I hope they throw the book at her.

Amazingly this happened right near the Upper Darby police station, so the victim pulled into the police parking lot and sought help. She needed immediate medical attention but physically will be fine. The perpetrator, Aisha Syed was apprehended by Philadelphia police as she fled into the neighboring Philadelphia.

As I said, there is never an excuse to inflict harm on anyone else, but these days you just never know what little thing one can do to set someone off. Please keep these safety tips in mind:

1) Always have a cell phone charged and readily available in case of emergency.

2) Be aware of your surroundings. Know where you are going. Even if you have GPS, have a back-up of written directions in case anything goes wrong with the GPS unit.

3) If it appears you have angered someone on the road, call police immediately especially if it appears they are following you.

4) If you have air conditioner, be sure to keep windows rolled up and doors locked.

5) Never, ever participate in a back and forth with anyone for any reason. This includes the ever famous middle finger, yelling, or any arguing.

I'm doing some quick return comments today. I've really got to catch up with my writing, but I had to make sure to get a webpage done, too! Then, I've got a lot of things happening for which I'll need money! I'll have to get my butt in gear and write, write, write, write. However, please, also do me a favor and visit www.everlastinglight.tk

Very scary - This person had no regard for others not even the safety of the child!

Good write up. There's never any reason for road rage.

All too often road rage ends in someone getting hurt. What is wrong with people?

Sad story and good point, there is never an excuse for this kind of behavior

You've posted excellent, excellent suggestions for our well-being. This was a heinous act and Ms. Syed deserves to be brought to justice and accountability.
