Road Trip Songs: 10 Great Rock-N-Roll Road Trip Songs

It's Road Trip Time and You Must Have Good Music for a Road Trip!

Sherri Thornhill
Most people love taking road trips (there are always exceptions to the rule), and with summer vacations coming soon, it's time to put thought into where you'll go and what you'll do. If you are going on a road trip, you have to have good music for the drive. For those of you who prefer a little rock-n-roll music for your drive, here are my picks for the 10 best rock-n-roll road trip songs.

The Eagles- "Take It Easy". This is soft rock, but it is the quintessential road trip song. I remember listening to this on road trips as a kid, and it is always on my iPod for my road trips now. "Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy."

John Mellencamp- "Ain't That America". If you are driving across our beautiful country, this song will just add to the scenery. Maybe you'll even catch a glimpse of a little pink house!

Bruce Springsteen- "Born In The USA". Maybe Springsteen wrote it as a protest song, but it still comes across as a patriotic song that is perfect for a road trip across America.

White Snake- "Here I Go Again". This is a great road trip song to crank up and sing along; "Here I go again on my own, going down the only road I've ever known."

Sammy Hagar- "I Can't Drive 55". Does anyone drive 55 anymore? I'm not advocating speeding, but at least while listening to this song on your road trip you can sing about speeding!

Kiss- "Rock-N-Roll All Nite". This just has the head moving-thumb-tapping-the-steering-wheel beat. "I wanna rock and roll all night and party every day!"

Heart- "Barracuda". I don't care how old or young you are, this is a classic rock-n-roll song. It's another head bobbing, singing to your self in the car kind of song.

Journey- "Don't Stop Believin". Keep believing that your road trip vacation will give you the stress free time that you need, while you sing along to this classic Journey song.

Bon Jovi- "It's My Life". We also just want to live while we're alive! A drive on the open roads is a great way to take back control of your life while en route to your road trip destination.

Poison- "Nothin' But A Good Time". As a little shout out to Bret Michaels (get well soon Bret), I picked this song. Hair bands were not my thing, but this is a fun song and great for a rock-n-roll road trip!

Hopefully you will all have enjoyable road trips, if you have another great road trip rock-n-roll song you think people should add to their playlist, leave it in the comment box below!

    Keep up the great work.

I absolutely love every single song on your list. I listen to them a lot. Journey is my all time favorite band, so when I saw that in your picks I said to myself, "YES! This girl knows good music." Hehe, it's all preference, but if it's good, it's good.

Like Kristen each of these songs were playing in my head as I read them! One of my favorites is American Pie, My family always sang at the top of our lungs when the kids wetre small, I can see my kids in the backseat singing along even though the song was way before their time ~ cracked me up. Great read, made me smile :o)
