Roanoke, Virginia Brings the Fireworks on the 4th of July

Roanoke, Virginia- July 4th in Roanoke, Virginia is an exciting celebration with the Music for Americans event. July 4th, 2009 will mark the 32nd annual Music for Americans event in Roanoke, Virginia and the 5th consecutive year that the event is taking place at the River's Edge Sports Complex. Come and make an evening of it. There is plenty of family fun and the evening ends with the best fireworks show. The best part is this event is free!

The River's Edge Sports Complex is located on Wiley Drive in Roanoke, Virginia. Since there is no parking onsite, there are shuttle services. You can meet the shuttle at the Downtown parking garage at Williamson and Franklin Roads or at the Virginia Western Community College parking lot on Colonial Avenue. The shuttle services start at 5pm and will run until everyone has been returned to their original locations. If you are looking for the best parking, definitely take the shuttle. There are streets around the River's Edge Sports Complex, but they get full quickly and early.

The fun starts at 5pm when the doors open for picnics, food vendors, and a Family Fun Zone. The zone will have games, inflatables, and more. At 8pm, you can enjoy the musical stylings of The Big Lick Brass Band and the group, Abbey Road LIVE. The Big Lick Brass Band will be performing a wonderful selection of patriotic and Americana songs. Abbey Road LIVE will bring a little rock to the event by performing hit songs from the Beatles.

Then be ready for the fireworks at 9:30pm. This display is Roanoke is one of the largest 4th of July shows in Virginia. It will be a spectacular ½ hour event. Be sure to bring your chairs and blankets so you can sit back and relax while you watch. You can even bring coolers and picnics or buy your food and drinks from the vendors. Pull up a spot anywhere on the River's Edge Sports Complex for a spectacular view of the fireworks. You will see explosions in green, yellow, red, orange, purple, blue, and white. You never know what designs will be put on the fireworks. Don't miss the grand finale, as you are sure to see the best part of the show. Hundreds of fireworks exploding in the sky at the end of the night are the most spectacular view of the evening.
