Rob Lowe on 'Oprah': 5 Revelations About the Sexy Actor

Rob Lowe, 47, has settled into the look of a handsome, middle aged man. He's still got the boyish good looks, but the gentle creases on his face, that come with age, give him the appearance of a man who has grown up, and quite nicely, in fact. Rob Lowe is fit, content and happy, and it shows. His wife Sheryl, who he has been married to since 1991, joined him during Oprah's show.

If you thought the notorious ladies man was just another pretty face, think again. Here are 10 revelations about the sexy star:

1. Rob penned his own memoir, "Stories I Only Tell My Friends." He did not employ a ghost writer. Furthermore, Lowe wrote the book by hand, because he says he's a terrible typist. Oprah considers Rob an excellent writer who has a way with words.

2. The "Parks and Recreations" star had an alcohol addiction severe enough to go to rehab. Today, he's been sober for 20 years. "Rehab is serious business for serious people," said Lowe. "It's not a place you go for publicity or to escape a law or to rehabilitate your career, which unfortunately is what it's become."

3. One of the first people to be exposed in a sex tape was Lowe. However, Lowe credits the video for turning his life around. "It ends up being the greatest thing that ever happened to me," said the actor. "Because what it ends up doing is accelerating, sort of, my alcohol stuff to where I finally get sober."

4. Charlie Sheen has known Lowe since they were 13. Martin Sheen, Emilio Estevez and Charlie were like an extended family to Rob, who spent many days and nights with the family. Says Rob about Charlie, "I love him." The two actors debate about Charlie's long history with drugs and alcohol. On sobriety, Rob says they, "agree to disagree" and Charlie wants nothing to with the anonymous group that helped Lowe get sober.

Tells Lowe on Sheen, "He's always been an iconoclast, and a true character, full of charisma and wild." When we see Charlie and his antics, Rob says, "It's Charlie being Charlie, the advanced, hopped up version."

5. You can often tell the good guys by how long they stay with one woman. Rob Lowe and his lovely wife Sheryl have been married for 23 years and have two beautiful sons. Where some couples just tolerate each other in later years, Rob and Sheryl say they are best friends. Says Rob, they focus on "how can we spend more time together not less."
