Upcoming R&B sensation, actor, producer, and man of many hats, Rob Murat , wants to leave his mark like fellow inspirations Will Smith, LL Cool J, Barbara Streisand, and Jamie Foxx did on the world. He not only wants to conquer the crossover, but he would love to follow in the aforementioned entertainer's footsteps. It is one day at a time though and the multi-talented Murat is shortly on his way.

Murat sat down with Yahoo! To talk about his upcoming R&B album, his current single out now entitled "Know", and his contributions to Haiti.

You're current single is "Know", but the public wants to know when your album will be out.

What's happening is "Know" is like a bridge between the old album, which was released about a year and a half ago and the new album, which will be released in Spring 2012. There was a live version of "Know" and a recorded version of "Know". I'm in the studio working on new material right now.

Johanna from MTV's Real World Austin plays your love interest in the video for "Know". How did that all come about?

Well, there was a casting call and we had over 300 submissions. We narrowed it down to 15 or 16 and she blew the audition away.

You wear many hats right now. That includes singing, acting, and producing---what do you feel to be the most enriching?

That's always been a tough question for me, but I always considered myself an entertainer. Anyway I can express myself creatively, I'll take. My first passion is music or stage performing. I have done ads, voice-overs, and commercials as well.

You have done a lot; is there anything else you want to add to the list?

There's plenty! I appreciate the response I'm getting from the music world, but there's a lot of people who don't know Rob Murat yet. My goal is to be more well known. I like to reach a plateau in the music world.

You have a lot to do with contributions to Haiti.

I am actively involved with Haiti. My parents are both from there and I lost a cousin in the earthquake, which hit hard. I dedicated my song, "Souls" for awareness to the earthquake. I did a whole montage of photos from Haiti that can be seen on YouTube and my web site. I try to stay actively involved.

You played Joe's Pub and Highline Ballroom in NYC. Which venue would you like to play again and why?

I love both, but Joe's Pub is a more intimate venue and I love to interact with the crowd.

How can you redefine R&B music in the year 2011?

I don't even know if that's even my goal. I just want to leave my imprint at this time and take it day by day.
