Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon Share Hot Chemistry in Water for Elephants (Movie Trailer)

Reese Witherspoon, 34, is Robert Pattinson's senior by 10 years but in Water for Elephants age means nothing. Witherspoon and Pattinson sizzle up the screen in the movie version of Sara Gruen's bestselling novel, and with them, a 42-year-old elephant named Tai create a story that is Oscar-worthy.

According to the film's director Francis Lawrence (of I Am Legend), Witherspoon and Pattinson had sparks between them which translated onto the screen. Lawrence told People, "I saw early on that those two had a real on-screen chemistry."

Additionally, Lawrence said, "There was just this thing that happens between the two of them when they are together as those two characters that was very exciting."

But don't forget their 42-year-old co-star, Tai, who weighs almost 9000 pounds.

Although Pattinson (of Twilight fame) wasn't sure about taking on the role of Jacob in Water, when he met Tai his commitment was solidified. Paul 'Sled' Reynolds who is the animal coordinator for the film said of Pattinson, "After he met Tai, he knew he wanted to do this movie. He absolutely adored that elephant."

Water for Elephants is the story of Jacob, a vet student who joins a traveling circus and falls in love with Marlena (played by Witherspoon) who is married to August (played by Christopher Waltz), an abusive ringleader.
