Jeff Buckley is the son of musician Tim Buckley, and is a classic example of a struggling musician who made it big. After being a guitarist in numerous bands and failing to make it as the frontman, he slowly began working on his own material until he was signed to a record label in 1992. Sadly, Buckley's life was cut short when he accidentally drowned in Memphis, Tennessee in 1997 but he lives on to this day through his music.
According to the Daily Express, Pattinson is desperate to land the part of Jeff Buckley and is working hard to ensure he snags it. It is probably no surprise to his fans that he is vying for the role as he is a keen musician himself. His vocal talents have been heard on the "Twilight" soundtracks and he was once offered a record deal by Simon Cowell!
The heartthrob has already slowly begun distancing himself from the teen movie market. He will soon be seen starring in "Water for Elephants" with Reece Witherspoon in a film about a man's experiences in a travelling circus. If he can secure the role of Jeff Buckley and prove his popularity is based on more than good looks, his credibility as an actor will soar.
This is not the first time RPattz has been rumoured to star in a movie about a musical icon. Last year, it was believed that he was wanted to play Kurt Cobain. Much negativity came from fans of the Nirvana frontman and the rumour was later squashed by Courtney Love who said the idea of Pattinson playing her late husband was "stupid".
For those who are sceptical about a teen idol playing someone as legendary as Jeff Buckley, it may be a surprise to hear that Robert Pattinson does not have the sugary sweet voice of a boyband singer. Check out this link to hear him singing. With that sound and his brooding good looks, he seems like a great candidate. However, he is said to be up against some other very talented actors. James Franco, James Marsden and Ryan Gosling are all being tipped as possibilities to play Buckley so it won't be an easy ride!

Post a CommentNice report.
Great write-up. I hope he can make the transition.
Great reporting!
Since Buckley was not much of a public figure, I would imagine Pattinson could pull if off as well as anyone.
Excellent reporting.
