Robert Pattinson Turned Down Simon Cowell Record Deal

"Twilight" superstar Robert Pattinson has revealed that he turned down a record deal from Simon Cowell. The music mogul himself offered Pattinson a record deal, but he chose not to accept because he felt that his style of music would be too depressing.

RPattz has made no secret of his admiration for Simon Cowell, but he was unwilling to sign a recording contract because he didn't think he would fit well into mainstream music. Although the "American Idol" judge has been behind some of the biggest names in the industry, Pattinson thought Cowell would struggle to "launch" him.

The "Twilight" star said, "I love Simon, I think he is a great personality and I think his shows are entertaining," he said. "He is a clever guy and he created artists that he knows the public will like, that's why I don't think he could ever launch my music career. I am selfish with my music. I get my guitar and I play what I like, but the problem is I don't think many other people would like it."

Simon Cowell is indeed a clever guy, clever enough to know that young girl's would probably by anything if it had Robert Pattinson's name on it. On the one hand, Pattinson may well be right. His music is not something those young girls would necessarily like. It is certainly a far cry from cheesy pop. On the other hand, Coldplay have made a career out of making depressing music.

It may surprise many people, but his voice is technically incredible. Anyone who owns a copy of the "Twilight" soundtrack will have heard him. His voice is thick, rich and has a great tone. The style of the tracks he has made available is quite Bob Dylan-esque, maybe even a little Led Zeppelin in places.

It's a shame many hardcore music fans wouldn't take him seriously, simple because he is Robert Pattinson.

Some actors have made it in the music field, some musicians in the acting field, but it doesn't mean they all have to do it. I haven't heard him sing, so I can't comment further though.

Love his music! I love when he plays the guitar and sings and I love when he plays the piano. I would buy anything he released. He is so musically talented, I will never understand why he thinks no one would buy his music.

That's probably for the best. How annoying would it be with everyone claiming he's using his Twilight fame for a music career? Even if it's good stuff, people would still call it crap because of that alone.
