Comedian Robin Williams has scheduled a new appearance in his "Weapons of Self Destruction" tour for March 27 in Rosemont, IL at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $240-$245 for the Illinois show at the Rosemont Theatre (5400 N. River Road) and seating information may be found at wegoplaces.com online.

Leah, from Washington, D.C., saw Williams in October and said he was "fantastic."

"At its best, Williams says, comedy acts as a mirror for society," says writer Mary McNamara. (http://articles.latimes.com/2006/oct/08/entertainment/ca-williams8). "After years in the business, Williams has no illusions about the crossover potential of humorists and politicans."

When Williams was interviewed by Bob Tourtellotte of Reuters in Oct. 2006 about his movie "Man of the Year" he criticized "the influence of special interest groups, the millions of dollars needed to campaign for office, and the negative ads candidates use to hurt their rivals."

During the same month, Williams was featured on the cover of AARP Magazine and interviewed by Nancy Griffin.

"Robin Williams' kidlike curiosity has led him on a very grownup quest for life's meaning," she wrote.(http://www.aarpmagazine.org/entertainment/robin_williams.html). "Williams will chatter nonstop to amuse you, but he says very little about his charity work."

Williams sang "I Did it My Way" as the animated penguin in the movie "Happy Feet" which he described in the article as "March of the Penguins meets Riverdance." He also played the part of Reverend Lovelace in the film, which he compared to the late Barry White.

In a quote from an interview in 2007 with the Daily Record, Williams joked that he could do "Gorillas in the Mist: The Musical on Broadway" or "Ghandi: The Musical."

Besides touring or starring in a movie, Williams is known for his charity work for numerous causes such as Celebrity Collars for Dollars auction which benefits Dogs Deserve Better, a nonprofit working to bring canines into the home and family. Two years ago Williams donated his dogs' used collars for the event.

Last year he spiced up the Tour of California for the Marin CA crowd, wrote Dave Albee on marinij.com.

"Whatever the Tour of California prologue had to offer in Palo Alto could not top the monologue delivered by Robin Williams at the team presentation and gala celebration in Sausalito," he said. "The famous comedian and Oscar-winning actor broke away from his busy schedule and cracked up hundreds of cycling fans with a surprise appearance at the black-tie affair under a massive rectangular white tent erected off Spinnaker Drive."

Wow, he is going back to doing stand up comedy? He has had quite a career and some rocky patches in the last few years (divorce, etc). I wish him the best. Thanks for reporting on this.
