Her debut album, Robyn Is Here, was released in her native Sweden in 1996 and in the U.S. in 1997, becoming platinum-certified albums in both territories and yielding hits in "Show Me Love" and "Do You Know (What It Takes)." Second album, My Truth, was another big hit in Sweden, but remained unreleased in the United States due to disagreement between her U.S. label and her over re-recording some of the content.

In late 2002, Robyn switched within BMG from RCA to Jive Records to release Don't Stop The Music. But once again, she was discontent with her label and management's treatment of the album and promotion. She was able to terminate her contract with Jive Records in 2004 and began setting up her own record label, called Konichiwa Records, under which she recorded her fourth album.

The result, Robyn, has become her international comeback. First released in Sweden, it became a big critical and commercial success. When released in the U.K. with two extra tracks, it became her U.K. breakthrough album, peaking at #11 on the U.K. Albums Chart. Singles "Be Mine!," "Who's That Girl," "Handle Me," "With Every Heartbeat" and "Dream On" have all landed in the Top 40, with "With Every Heartbeat" reaching the coveted #1 spot.

She lent backing vocals to Britney Spears' 2007 hit single "Piece of Me" when her producer Klas Ã…hlund asked her to lay down vocals for the track.

When Robyn was finally released in the United States in April 29, 2008, it marked her long-delayed U.S. return. The album has been almost unanimously acclaimed by critics. Entertainment Weekly hailed it as "fantastic all the time," while Stylus Magazine praised that Robyn is "one of the few Europop albums that not only deserves worldwide domination, but also has a really good chance of achieving it." Perez Hilton has been a notable fan of hers, featuring her music on his blog.

The album has reached #100 on the Billboard 200, even though singles, "With Every Heartbeat," "Handle Me," and the Teddybears cover "Cobrastyle" have not made much impression outside the dance charts. "Cobrastyle" made Rolling Stone Magazine's Best Singles of 2008, was featured on So You Think You Can Dance, and was performed by Robyn on The Late Show with David Letterman.

Robyn has been deservingly nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Electronic/Dance Album. After its long run and success, the 29-year-old Swede is currently starting to work on a follow-up.
