Rock the Cradle MTV Series Premiere

Pam Gaulin
MTV tries to return to its roots, sort of, with the new series Rock the Cradle. With Rock the Cradle, MTV will be climbing down the family tree of famous rock stars and musicians to see what kid of musical talent, if any was passed down to the next generation. The Rock the Cradle MTV Series is a competition show where the young rockers will compete to stay on the show.

Rock the Cradle MTV Series Premiere

The Rock the Cradle MTV series premieres on Thursday April 3, 2008 at 10pm EST. The show will be aired on MTV. If you miss the premiere on April 3, 2008 you can catch encore viewings on Friday, April 4th, 2008 at 9am, 1pm or 7pm ET/PT on MTV.

Voting on Rock the Cradle MTV Series

According to MTV, there will be a panel of judges, but the voting will be by the fans.

Cast of the Rock the Cradle MTV Series

Music fans will probably be more familiar with these young rockers' parents. To some these names may seem more like music history. Many of these rocker offspring are already in the music business. They have been singing and performing for most of their lives. A couple have albums coming out soon. For these young stars, music is simply their way of life.

The Girls on the New Rock the Cradle MTV Series

A'Keiba Burrell
Famous Rapping Dad: MC Hammer

A'Keiba Burrell's sound is "R&B with a neo-soul vibe" according to MTV.

Lara Johnston
Famous Singing Dad: Tom Johnston, the Doobie Brothers

Classically-trained ballerina Lara Johnston sings too. She has been singing since she was two, according to MTV.

Chloe Lattanzi
Famous Siren Mom: Olivia Newton-John

Chloe looks like a living doll with her wide eyes, porcelain skin and full lips. In her young and already full life, Chloe Lattanzi has already appeared in movies. Chloe is another Rock the Cradle cast member that is a prolific songwriter.

Jesse Money
Famous Rocker Dad: Eddie Money

Jesse Money, like other kid rockers in the Rock the Cradle cast has spent many hours performing with her dad according to MTV.

Lucy Walsh
Famous Rocker Dad: Joe Walsh, The Eagles

Lucy Walsh is the daughter of guitarist Joe Walsh. You've heard of the Eagles, right? Lucy Walsh is somewhat of a piano prodigy and she also has ballet training, according to MTV. She also has a Pop/Rock album coming out in the spring of 2008.

The Guys on the New Rock the Cradle MTV Series

Albert J. Brown IV
Famous Smooth Dad: R&B singer Al B. Sure

Mad vocal skills!

Landon Brown
Famous Singing Dad: Bobby Brown (yes, that Bobby Brown)

Landon Brown is a rapper, a singer and he writes songs, according to MTV. Go Landon!

Crosby Loggins
Famous Pop Star Dad: Kenny Loggins

Jesse Blaze Snider
Famous Twisted Dad: Lee Snider (Twisted Sister)

Jesse Blaze Snider should get the girls' votes. This young musician is already in a band (Baptized by Fire), been in a video game (PlayStation 2's SingStar '80s) and was even a VJ for MTV2. (MTV)

Rock the Cradle should be a fun show for anyone who likes to watch musicians that are both talented and already privileged.

Watched show twice. It is terrible. They will probably cancel. Costs MTV alot to produce. Another mistake. Oh well

I am actually working with MTV to promote the show. Too be honest, I was pretty unfamiliar with most of the contestants until recently, but after listening to the music and doing some research on their backgrounds, I think there is a great pool of talent. They all seem to be accomplished singers and most of them have professional experience.
