A new annual concert festival is beginning in Columbus, Ohio. Rock on the Range, an over the top concert, is debuting on May 19th 2007. The founders chose the Columbus Crew Stadium, home to Columbus' Major League Soccer team, for their inaugural event with hopes the mid-west location will provide room to grow in coming years. The single day event will feature many mainstream rock bands, 13 confirmed as of today with more to be announced at a later date. The festival will give fans a special treat, the return of ZZ Top. Also scheduled to appear are big name acts such as Evanescence, Velvet Revolver, Hinder, Papa Roach, Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, Three Days Grace, Buckcherry, and Puddle of Mudd.

ZZ Top has been entertaining audiences for over 37 years with their signature chest length beards and 'cheap sunglasses'. After releasing over 35 singles and being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, the group is rumored to be working on their 15th studio album.

Evanescence is a five member band from Arkansas. Bringing a unique sound with both male and female vocalists, they have released many singles such as "Broken", "Bring Me To Life", and the most recent "Call Me When You're Sober".

Velvet Revolver was formed in 2002 with former members of Guns N Roses, Stone Temple Pilots and Sonic Youth coming together. Their first album, "Contraband", brought success with popular songs like "Slither" and "Fall To Pieces". A sophomore album, "Libertad" is scheduled for release May 31st 2007.

Hinder popped up into the mainstream in 2005 with the release of their only album to date "Extreme Behavior". The most well known song from the record, "Lips of an Angel", debuted at #1 on the Top 100 Pop chart in 2006.

Papa Roach is a four member group from California formed from high school buddies. They have since released four studio albums, incorporating the mixed sounds of hardcore rock, pop, and rap influences. Their 2006 song, "To Be Loved" was contracted by the WWE as the theme to Monday Night Raw.

Breaking Benjamin began their career with local success in their home state of Pennsylvania. The four member group has released three albums, the last of which "Phobia", is being re-released this year with an accompanying DVD. They recently gained popularity with their first #1 single "Breath".

Chevelle, named after the classic sports car, has released four albums, the most recent "Vena Sera" in April 2007. The rock trio had success with many singles such as "Send the Pain Below", "Vitamin R", and "The Clincher". They have also covered songs from Shinead O'Connor, The Cure, and the Smashing Pumpkins.

Three Days Grace is a quartet formed in 1992 in Canada. They have released two records in the US and have had three #1 singles, "Just Like You", "Animal I've Become", and "Pain". Another song, "I Hate (Everything About You)", was featured in the Nascar Thunder 2004 video game.

Buckcherry debuted in 1999 with the release of their self-titled album. Also in 1999, the group from California played the "Woodstock" festival and the "Live 8" festival in 2005. Their most recent single, from their third album, "Crazy Bitch", is still in the regular rotation on most mainstream rock radio stations.

Puddle of Mudd was formed in 1993 in Missouri. The band is expected to release their fifth album in 2007, but no formal details have been announced. They have released four #1 singles in 2002 and 2003 including "She Hates Me", "Drift & Die", "Blurry", and "Away From Me".

General admission tickets for "Rock on the Range" are still available for $49.50 each at Ticketmaster locations or the Ticketmaster website. "Rock on the Range", with it's slogan, "Where Rock Lives" is poised to be a huge annual rock festival, with radio stations as far as Detroit, MI promoting the event.
