Music Fans Celebrate 2009 Year of Ecstasy as Motown Turns 50, Woodstock Turns 40, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Turns 25

Baby boomers are basking in the brilliance of their legendary music era as three historic music events in 2009 promise to make it the year of ecstasy for music lovers. There has never been another season in 50 years that has Baby Boomers, their children, and their grandchildren booking flights, hotels, and buying tickets for the most celebrated year of music milestones in American history. What will probably go down as the live music concert of the century is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary Concert on October 29, 2009 and October 30, 2009 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

American Express, sponsor of the giant Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary Concert, is allowing cardmembers first dubs on tickets starting Monday July 27 at 9:00 a.m. by calling 1-800-745-3000. The rest of the public can purchase tickets beginning Monday, August 3rd at 9:00 a.m. Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, U2, Metallica, Eric Clapton, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Friends, and Simon and Garfunkel are among those playing at the mega music concert.

The Rock Hall has also enlisted the filmmaking and music documentary talents of Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman, Jann Wenner, Cameron Crowe, Robbie Robertson, and Joel Gallen to curate the concert events. For more information about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary Concert, visit The Rock Hall web site. There are dozens more music concerts and anniversary celebrations planned for the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock along with Woodstock memorabilia, books, and CDs commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock (click here for complete details.) It is still a mystery about who was born at Woodstock 40 years ago as a Love Child of the 1960s, but Happy Birthday anyway. One reporter, Michael Hill from Associated Press is still in search of anyone born at Woodstock (click here to read report.) Time to turn yourself in! It will be the biggest birthday party of your life.

As Motown turns 50, sadly the world and the Motown family mourn the death of its superstar, Michael Jackson. Berry Gordy, Jr. honored Michael Jackson and The Jackson 5 family at Michael Jackson's public memorial service on Tuesday, July 7, 2009. In memory of Michael Jackson's legacy to the history of pop music, the Motown family has prepared a statement on their Motown 50 special 50th anniversary web site. (click here to view)

I was 3 years old when the "Motown Many" began shaping my love for soul music and dancing like I wasn't a white person. I was 13 years old when Janis Joplin took a little piece of my heart at Woodstock and shaped my affection for 1960s love child music. I was 28 when the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame cemented by affinity for classic rock and roll, my favorite music genre. After 25 years, it's not just classic rock any more. The 2009 inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were Metallica, Run-D.M.C., Bobby Womack, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Jeff Beck, Wanda Jackson, Bill Black, DJ Fontana, and Spooner Oldham. Congratulations and keep the talent coming!
