The year 1981 became the turning point year for the Rock Steady Crew. During August of that year, a Photographer named Henry Chalfant offered Mike Holman to perform at the Lincoln outdoor program against its rival group, The Dynamic Rockers which was covered by the New York media and the national Geographic which in turn made them popular through out the world. Jimmy D was so impressed with what Crazy Legs had done that he made the latter the president of the group. In the winter of the next year, RSC performed at the Ritz nightclub side by side with Bow Wow Wow, Africa Bambaataa, and Jazzy 5. After that, Crazy legs and the rest of the crew joined Africa Bambaataa to create Zulu Nation and became diversified with the New York City's club culture. At that same decade, Cool Lady Blue took them to Europe as their manager. RSC and other hip hop group made history as the first hip hop artists to tour internationally and twice at that same year appeared in Jerry Lewis's telethon. Also the Queen of England at that time, Elizabeth II. Invited the crew to perform for the benefit of artists' benevolent fund. Soon after that performance, RSC had a short recording contract with Charisma a British recording label.
Another year that is significant to RSC was in the year 1991. A rapper named Q-Unique an a pressure coming from Jerry "Fast Feet" Fontanez to revive the crew. At that same year also, RSC returns through a music vidio. Furthermore, RSC joined a hip hop musical titled, "So, what happens now" which became the critics' choice. One year after, RSC received a standing ovation at the Kennedy Center honored lead by Gregory Hines which coincidentally, George H. W. Bush and Gregory Peck were present at that time.
Currently, RSC enjoys its success by these proofs. At present, Rock Steady Crew has three chapters in the United States of America namely Las Vegas, Orlando and Los Angeles. Rock Steady Crew also have chapters in other countries like Italy, Japan, Canada and The United Kingdom. RSC is also active in the community by conducting food drives, and are planning to establish a Rock Steady foundation that will which will include dancing and other school activities for children. In the future, you may expect other surprises from the RSC.
