Rocklands Barbeque and Grilling Company is a local chain of BBQ restaurants in the Washington D.C. area. Their food is made quick and it tastes great. It's cheap and so it won't put a strain on your budget, although it's so good you might end up stuffing yourself and putting some strain on that old belt of yours.

The Rocklands BBQ restaurants in Washington D.C. use only wood to grill and cook all of their offerings. The result is great, authentic taste and meat that's amazingly tender and flavorful. When you walk into one of their locations you can still the fire blazing and even from outside and halfway across the block, you can smell the delectable BBQ that awaits you inside.

Among their menu offerings are all of the standbys of a classic BBQ joint. Pulled pork and pulled chicken sandwiches, ribs, hearty side dishes and chicken wings are some of their staples. You can also buy their meat in bulk by the pound and they do cater events.

The chicken wings aren't overly seasoned but maintain a natural, fresh off the grill taste. The sandwiches don't try to offer any frills, but stick to the basics: a nice soft roll, meat piled on high and as much sauce as you want to put on.

They make a honey and jalapeno flavored cornbread that ranks with the best cornbread I've ever eaten. Unlike most cornbread it's actually moist, and it has just enough sweetness and kick to make it unique and memorable.

If all of that wasn't enough, Rocklands BBQ converted me for good when I saw their collection of hot sauces. They make their own BBQ sauce which you can take home with you and slather onto your sandwich and they also have a wide collection of other hot sauce and BBQ sauce brands.

You can use the sauces on your food right there or you can purchase some sauce to take home with you. Their BBQ sauce is atypical of many standard varieties. It's tangy and a little spicy with chunks of onions and is more of a liquid than a thick, gooey BBQ sauce commonly is.

Two people can easily go and grab a great, filling dinner for less than $20, making it a great find for anybody looking to conserve some cash. There is space to sit down and eat at their locations, although it's more geared towards the takeout crowd.

The Rocklands BBQ restaurant chain has four locations in the D.C. area, including one in the District, one in Maryland and two in Virginia (Arlington and Alexandria). You can find their exact restaurant locations and more information about this tasty, cheap BBQ restaurant at their website, www.rocklands.com
