There's money, mobsters and underground criminals all running amuck. RocknRolla.
I like Guy Ritchie movies. They are like watching foreign films without the subtitles. I sometimes need subtitles even though what they are supposedly speaking is some form of English. I have to pay attention twice as hard just to understand the words that are leaving one person's mouth. Like in Snatch when I had to pay close attention to Brad Pitt's words, not that it mattered he was all over the place with words I just didn't get. Ha.
RocknRolla is just a fun movie. The characters are great. The lines are great. The acting was fantastic. Gerard Butler and Tom Hardy have great chemistry on screen. That'll mean more when you see it. Ha. Then there's Butler and Thandie Newton's chemistry that just rocked it. Jeremy Piven and Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges had good chemistry. Then there's the Rocknrolla himself Toby Kebbell and his performance was stand alone awesome. The tail end of the film is where he totally just steals the show out from underneath everyone else.
There are really good comedic moments in RocknRolla. I like the type of humor that was in the film and that comes from across the pond. I enjoyed when Hansom Bob (Tom Hardy) had to tell One Two (Gerard Butler) something and then it became a running joke for the rest of the film. The dance scene Butler shared with Newton. When Butler, Hardy were chased by the Russians. That was one of the best scenes in the film. It was just ridiculously funny. Then there's the sex scene that was like a snippet of his face her face. I love when they find creative ways to show sex scenes. No one needs to see sex and it's not entertaining in a film to see it because that type of excitement shouldn't be something people enjoy to view publicly. Plus suggestiveness is always far better than in your face when it comes to sex.
Ritchie has talent. His films always entertain even though the language is "pervasive" (as the rating suggests). Ha. If you liked Snatch and Lock Stock and Two Smoke and Barrels you will find RocknRolla entertaining as well. It's enjoyable, funny, witty, ingenious (at times) and great theatrical fun. It is a rockin' good time if I were to be cheesy for a moment; and I often am.
